Robert W. Burget, 79, born March 22, 1937 in St. Louis, Mo. passed away on October 11, 2016 while residing at Cedarhurst Memory Care in Collinsville, IL.

Robert retired from Laclede Gas in 2007after 29 years of employment. After retirement he became an American Red Cross volunteer in the greater St. Louis and Metro-East areas for local blood drives. Robert was a charter member of the St. Louis Tip Toppers. Robert served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany.

Robert W. Burget, 79, born March 22, 1937 in St. Louis, Mo. passed away on October 11, 2016 while residing at Cedarhurst Memory Care in Collinsville, IL.

Robert retired from Laclede Gas in 2007after 29 years of employment. After retirement he became an American Red Cross volunteer in the greater St. Louis and Metro-East areas for local blood drives. Robert was a charter member of the St. Louis Tip Toppers. Robert served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert V. and Mildred, nee Nattkempfer, Burget of St. Louis.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Karen, nee Melville, Burget of Belleville and his daughter, Sara Burget (Christopher) Cameron of N. Cambria, Pennsylvania and his two grandsons, Trevor and Austin; a stepson, Matthew Moffitt of Swansea, his brother, George (Nancy) Burget of Independence, MO ; 2 nephews, Robert V. (Sarah) Burget of Tempe, AZ and Jeffrey Burget, who is currently residing in Taiwan; and a niece, Caroline Burget of Tempe, AZ..

The couple met at a Mega Singles Dance in St. Louis in February 12, 1993 and were married two years and 2 days later on February 14, 1995 at a Mega Wedding with 98 other couples on radio station Y98.

Robert loved to travel and we enjoyed numerous trips together cruising through many countries. He loved planning these excursions. He was a kind, generous loving man with a great sense of humor and always kept us laughing.

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to all the wonderful, dedicated direct-care and nursing staff at Cedarhurst of Collinsville for their outstanding loving care and the support staff providing all the additional services; and, Family Hospice staff for their great support to the family with their wonderful understanding, guidance and excellent care. Additionally, we want to thank Dr. Mounir Shenouda for his dedication to Robert's healthcare needs over many years and Dr. Matthew St. Eve for his concern and care of Robert's dental issues during his extended illness.

Visitation: Friends may call from 10-12 pm Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Valhalla-Gaerdner-Holten Funeral Home in Belleville.

Funeral: A funeral service will be held at 12 noon at the funeral home, interment will follow in Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Illinois.
