Constance M. Ruffing, nee Delbartes, 92, of Collinsville, Illinois, born April 22, 1924, died October 12, 2016, at Columbia Convalescent Center while surrounded by her family. "Connie" had been a resident at the Convalescent Center for several years and loved her primary caregivers, which she regarded as her extended family.

Connie's faith was central to her life as a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Belleville and later Trinity Lutheran Church in Millstadt. Her faith impacted her career choice as she demonstrated patience and kindness toward her patients as a nurse's aide at...

Constance M. Ruffing, nee Delbartes, 92, of Collinsville, Illinois, born April 22, 1924, died October 12, 2016, at Columbia Convalescent Center while surrounded by her family. "Connie" had been a resident at the Convalescent Center for several years and loved her primary caregivers, which she regarded as her extended family.

Connie's faith was central to her life as a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Belleville and later Trinity Lutheran Church in Millstadt. Her faith impacted her career choice as she demonstrated patience and kindness toward her patients as a nurse's aide at Memorial Convalescent Center.

Connie loved her grandchildren more than anything else in the world. While residing in Belleville, she enjoyed sharing the chores with her oldest daughter, Cheryl, an RN, by helping her raise her grandson and, while residing in Millstadt, by helping her younger daughter, Carla, an MD, by raising two grandsons and a granddaughter. In addition, she loved tending to the family's' many pets consisting of dogs, cats, chickens, and llamas.

She was preceded in death by her parents: George and Gertrude Delbartes, nee Pelchus; husbands, Carl Ruffing and Bill Murphy; brothers, John Delbartes, Arthur Delbartes, and Albert (Shirley) Delbartes; and sisters, Dorothy Kofron, Marie Delbartes, Mae (George) Nurdin, and Martha (Jerome) Klein.

Surviving are her two daughters, Cheryl (Michael) Huber of Fairview Heights and Dr. Carla (Donald) Samson of Millstadt; four grandchildren, Dr. Reid (Donielle) Huber of Wilmington, Delaware, Joseph Samson of Athens, Georgia, Zach Samson of Memphis, Tennessee, and Emily (Christian) Guachamin of Springfield, Illinois; and one great grandson, Beckett Huber of Wilmington, Delaware.

Visitation: Friends may call on Monday, October 17, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Millstadt, Illinois, from 10:30 to 12:00 P.M
Funeral: Funeral Services will be held at noon at the church

Interment will follow in Valhalla Gardens of Memory , Belleville, Illinois
